AGUA: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The ARTS GROUP OF UNION AVENUE is excited to announce that Betsy Gibbs will take center stage in the Gretchen Brigham Gallery during the month of December. The exhibition will include a retrospective of Betsy’s artistry, including more than 30 pieces of art — some may be new and some may be from collections from Betsy's and Jay and Carla Gibbs' homes.

We were happy to see Betsy recently at Suzanne's Memorial Service. Betsy headed AGUA for many years and had a successful career as an Art Therapist. She was very active in the St. Louis art scene. It is symbolic that her art is "home" for the holidays in the gallery that she helped to create!

On January 16, 2022, a new show, Coalescence III, will debut in the gallery with a reception after church featuring the work of Kacey Cowdery, Bill Vaile, Deann Rubin and Michael Rubin. This show will be full of fiber, photographs and artwork and it will run through early March.

The following months will be shows with three sisters sharing their varied artworks, and then two sisters sharing theirs! Then we will be into opera season with the Sharp Shooters and the Weavers' Guild finally getting their gallery shows after virtual shows last year!

AGUA appreciated everyone's support during Visualizing Hope, our third Who is God? Midwest Exhibit. It was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Advent Devotional as well; we hope that you enjoy using it to on your personal Advent journey. — Carla Duncan

The ARTS GROUP OF UNION AVENUE has coordinated a collaboration between the artists whose works were part of the VISUALIZING HOPE: Who is God? exhibition and members and friends of the congregation whose reflections on the art are captured in a moving devotional for this season in which we hope and pray for God's light to show us a way forward. You can access the online devotional here (and save it to your browsers bookmarks or reading list for daily reading during the season ahead). We'll have printed copies for those who gather for in-person worship this morning.
