WHAT ON EARTH is God up to?!?

During this Advent season, we are combining the “tried and true” with the “wide and new” to help us get back into the habits of faith and discipleship while also growing beyond the comfortable and routine we've come to expect.  We'll be exploring stories of women and mothers every Sunday, following the excellent new work A Women's Lectionary for the Whole Church by the Rev. Dr. Wilda C. Gafney (read about her here).  Each Sunday, we'll hear various stories of annunciation found throughout the bible: those of Hagar, Sarah, the mother of Samson, and Hannah alongside that of Mary (and her elder cousin Elizabeth too!).  We'll take a fresh look at these stories about women and give them voice, examine the intersectional oppressions they name, and ask the question “What on earth is God up to?!?” each week as we prepare to learn again how Jesus makes incarnate God's mission of love.
