BBQ FOR DOORWAYS

Our fellow STL Disciples congregations are having a BBQ cookout on Friday, June 3 for our friends at Doorways, one of our treasured mission partners here in the city, and we’ve been asked to help out.  A couple of times a year, we STL Disciples provide an incredible BBQ lunch complete with meats, sides, ample desserts, and ample sharing in the Spirit.  Last year we had so much fun getting together again with the advent of broad COVID vaccinations and gorgeous weather, and we anticipate even more food, fun, and fellowship this year.

Here’s how you can help:

  • provide a dessert to share (pie, cake, fruit, etc.)

  • bring a dessert with you when you come to stay for lunch!

  • volunteer to help serve food

  • stay and talk with residents/staff from Doorways

The BBQ will be held at Cooper House (4385 Maryland Ave, St. Louis, MO 63108), and desserts can come anytime from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  Volunteers (food servers and place setters) need to arrive by 11:30 a.m.  Lunch starts at noon, so be sure to bring an appetite with you.  Our siblings in Christ from Centennial always do an AMAZING job with the ‘cue, so we’re all in for a special treat.

Most importantly, this is a time when we not only share together as Disciples but do what Disciples do best: gather people together around a table and feast on the goodness of our common life in God.  Precious conversations and friendships happen every year at this event, and we hope you can come.  Contact Rev. Michael if you can offer a dessert of volunteer to help.

See you at Doorways soon!
