Da VINCI!
/As the season of Lent approaches, there’s no better time to experience the gifts of Leonardo Da Vinci, also known as the Renaissance Man! The FAITH FORMATION TEAM is organizing a group field trip to the St. Louis Science Center’s Da Vinci special exhibit for Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 17. Our group time is 12 – 1 p.m.
We must have at least 10 people commit to attending to get a group rate. A signup sheet will be available in the foyer or contact Kathy Davis directly no later than Sunday, February 2. Group tickets are: $8.95 for senior citizens and children (ages 60+ and children ages 5-12) or $10.95 for ages 13-59. Feel free to invite friends for this special tour with us! Some may want to gather for lunch afterward at a nearby restaurant.
Da Vinci, commonly known for his Renaissance art including The Last Supper, Mona Lisa and other Christian-centered pieces, also was an incredible engineer, scientist and inventor as the world experienced a rebirth during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Science Center’s special exhibit focuses on these gifts of Da Vinci but also touches on his contributions as an artist.
This event lends itself for small group discussions prior to the visit or during Lent if there is interest. Topics could include, but certainly are not limited to:
Da Vinci as an artist and how his paintings connect with our faith
Da Vinci as a scientist, inventor and engineer
Exploring the book/movie, The Da Vinci Code
Please contact Richard Jones if you are interested in forming a small group about this topic or any other small group discussions. Small groups can meet during Sunday School hour, after church or on weekdays/weeknights depending on the group’s availability.
