When was the last time you got to choose your own Top 40 music countdown instead of listening to someone else’s? Even more so, how often do we as a church really get a chance to “sing our favorites” and celebrate those songs and hymns that have shaped our relationship with God?

Beginning this past May, we began a process of selecting our favorite hymns among the congregation of Union Avenue Christian Church. We carefully considered the hymns that resonate with our personal faith journeys, submitted our ballots, compiled the results into our TOP 40 COUNTDOWN, and then we sang four of those hymns each Sunday, beginning in June. We started with #40 and we sang four songs each week until we arrived at #1.

Our summer worship services in the Gallery were filled with spirited singing of our favorite hymns. It was a great way to share the stories of our faith and memories that remain dear and close to our heart. Here's a recap of our TOP 40:
