IVORY PERRY PARK CONCERT SERIES

The Ivory Perry Park Concert Series kicks off its fifteenth anniversary season with the soulful sounds of Denise Thimes Sunday, June 25, in Ivory Perry Park, 800 N. Belt Avenue in the Visitation Park neighborhood. Ms. Thimes was the first performer to take the Ivory Perry Park Concert Series stage back in 2002.

An accomplished performer, Denise Thimes has always been destined for stardom. While many artists "dabble" in theater, Ms. Thimes is an undisputed class act. She has toured both America and Europe with several critically acclaimed productions and is an eight-time recipient of the St. Louis Black Repertory Woodie Award for both musicals and drama. A graduate of Spelman College, Ms. Thimes lists her biggest influences as Marlena Shaw, Carmen McCrae, and her parents, the late Mildred Thimes and St. Louis radio personality Lou "Fatha" Thimes. When she is not wowing audiences with her talent, style and poise, she resides in St. Louis.

The music is the centerpiece of the evening, and it begins at 6 p.m. Additionally, there will be free yoga with Yoga Buzz, barbeque from Agape In Motion, St. Louis Kettle Corn (free for the kids),  arts and crafts, bouncy house, face painting, chess and raffles. Pre-concert activities begin at 5:30 p.m.

The concert series continues with St. Louis blues sensation Marquise Knox heating up the night on Sunday, July 23. The concert series rolls to a close on Sunday, August 27, with Dirty Muggs offering up a hearty helping of rhythm and blues.

Pack a picnic, grab a blanket or lawn chairs, and meet us in Ivory Perry Park for some free family fun!
