Rapture, Blister, Burn

The WEST END PLAYERS GUILD opens its production of Gina Gionfriddo's RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN Friday, November 13 at 8 p.m. in the community theater on the lower level of Union Avenue Christian Church.

After grad school, Catherine and Gwen chose polar opposite paths. Catherine became a “rock star” in the academic world and a go-to cable TV commentater, while Gwen built a home with her husband and children. Decades later, unfulfilled in polar opposite ways, each woman covets the other’s life, commencing a dangerous game of musical chairs — the prize being Gwen’s husband (and Catherine’s long-ago ex-boyfriend), Don. With searing insight and wit, this comedy offers an unflinching look at gender politics in the wake of 20th-century feminist ideals.
